Da Bears get Da Boot!

Chicago, January 5, 2000 (MS-Sun-Times) For several months, Michael McCaskey dared Mayor Richard Daley to evict the Bears from Soldier Field. Today, Daley called McCaskey's bluff as he sent in the National Guard to remove all Bears property from Soldier Field.

"I'm not worried." Said McCaskey as he was being dragged out of the stadium. "Yeah it was mistake not to have a new city, or a new stadium deal locked up before it came to this. But hey, someday we'll look back on this and laugh. It's a good thing we weren't in the playoffs when this happened. Otherwise we'd really be in trouble."

Daley, on the other hand, was in no mood to laugh. "I should have done this years ago!" He exclaimed at a press conference. "The Bears have put this city through hell, and this was the last straw. I join all my fellow Chicagoans in saying good-bye and good riddance to the Bears!"

NFL officials made no public comment. One anonymous official had no kind words for Bears management. "I haven't seen a team so poorly managed since the Dallas Texans!"

The Bears are currently talking to several high school stadiums about hosting games for the 2000 season.
